Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This policy explains how I, Padma Jairam, Counselling Psychologist (“I”, “me” or “my”), collect, use, disclose and protect personal data in connection with this website, padmajairam.com (the “Site”), and when you contact me. I handle personal data in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the “PDPA”).

1. What this Site collects

The Site has no forms, no accounts and no sign-up, and it does not ask you for any personal information. Reading it does not identify you to me.

To show you the Site and keep it running, a few technical things happen:

  • Delivery and security. The Site is delivered through Cloudflare, which receives your device's IP address and browser details in order to deliver pages and protect the Site from attacks. The Site's own server holds an IP address for no more than a minute, to limit abusive traffic, and does not record it.
  • Visit counts. I count visits with Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies, does not track you across websites, and does not store your IP address. It gives me totals only, such as how many people read a page and which country they were in, and never information about an individual.
  • AI services. The Site offers its pages in a plain-text form for AI services, and counts how often those services read them. The count records only the name of the service, the page and the date.
  • Embedded content. Some pages show content from other services: a Google map on the home and Directions pages, a meWATCH video in one article, and a Buzzsprout podcast player in another. When a page with one of these is shown, your browser contacts that service directly, and the service may collect information under its own privacy policy.

The Site sets no cookies of its own. The Cookie Policy explains the cookies other services may set.

2. What you share when you contact me

If you contact me by email, phone or WhatsApp, I receive the personal data you choose to share, such as your name, contact details and, if you mention them, details of your health or circumstances. I use this information only to reply to you, to arrange a consultation, and, if we work together, to provide counselling and psychological services.

WhatsApp is a service of Meta, and email passes through the providers you and I use, so messages sent through them are also subject to those providers' terms.

3. When I disclose personal data

I do not sell personal data, and I do not share it with anyone except:

  • where you have given your consent;
  • where it is necessary to provide the services you have asked for; or
  • where the law requires or permits it, including where there is a serious risk to the safety of you or another person.

4. Data outside Singapore

Some of the services above process data outside Singapore. Cloudflare operates worldwide, Plausible processes its visit counts in the European Union, and Google, Meta and the embedded services may process data in other countries. Where data is transferred, I rely on these providers to protect it to a standard comparable to the PDPA.

5. How long I keep it, and how I protect it

I keep personal data only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as professional or legal obligations require, and I take reasonable steps to protect it against unauthorised access, use, disclosure or loss.

6. Your rights

You may ask to see the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or withdraw your consent to my using it. Withdrawing consent may mean I can no longer provide some services, and I will explain any such consequence. I will respond to a request within 30 days, or tell you within that time when I will be able to respond.

7. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when my practices or the law change. Any update will appear on this page with a new date.

8. Contact and Data Protection Officer

I am responsible for personal data in my practice and act as its Data Protection Officer. For any question, request or concern about this policy or your personal data, please contact me:
